Pulp Friction’s work has been recognised nationally by winning a Learning Disability and Autism Leaders Award, celebrating their work in the local community.
The awards are hosted by Dimensions, one of the UK’s largest not-for-profit organisations supporting people with Learning Disabilities, Autism, behaviours of distress, and complex health needs.
Held annually, The Leaders Awards are designed to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Learning Disabled and Autistic individuals and groups across the UK. They shine a light on the contributions people make to their communities and aim to challenge perceptions around disability.
A Year of Growth and Recognition
Pulp Friction’s win follows an extraordinary year. In May 2024, the charity made headlines by exhibiting their own garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, earning a Silver Gilt medal and the coveted People’s Choice Award for their “Growing Skills Garden.” This latest national recognition from Dimensions celebrates the passion and teamwork behind that success.
The award specifically honours the Growing Skills Garden team, whose creativity, hard work, and determination brought the Chelsea garden to life. Members of the Pulp Friction community were involved in every stage – from concept and planting to media interviews and event promotion.
A Win for Inclusion
“I’m proud of our team and what we’ve achieved together,” said co-founder Jessie, herself a previous recipient of a Leaders Award. “It’s proof of what’s possible when we are given the opportunity to shine.”
By winning this award, Pulp Friction hopes to continue raising awareness of the incredible potential of Learning Disabled and Autistic people, and inspire others to think differently about inclusion and opportunity.
The Award Ceremony
Some of the Pulp Friction team travelled to Sheffield on 13th June for the official ceremony, where they were presented with the award among peers and supporters. It was a day filled with joy, celebration, and shared commitment to change.
When accepting the award, one of the organisation’s Members, Michelle, said “I would like to say thank you to the whole team, many who couldn’t join us at the ceremony today. I’m very proud of what we’ve done… we can achieve anything together.”

From Chelsea Flower Show gardens to national award stages, Pulp Friction is growing beyond expectations – and proving that with the right support, anything is possible.
