Workplace Skills for Learning Disabled and Autistic People

Pulp Friction CIO is a Nottingham-based charity dedicated to empowering Learning Disabled and Autistic individuals. Through a supportive and inclusive environment, the organisation provides meaningful opportunities for members to gain confidence, learn practical skills, and engage in real-world experiences that prepare them for employment and greater independence in their daily lives.

DONATION

How Your Donations Help

As a charity, we rely on the generous donations you give in order to continue doing our work:

  • £10 will fund equipment for our creative sessions
  • £40 will support one of our Members to take Food Safety training
  • £100 will go towards travel costs for events we attend
  • £300 will pay for a smoothie bike workshop for the community

At Pulp Friction CIC, we are always on the lookout for people eager to get into work. Whether that is as a support worker or as part of our kitchen staff.We take great pride in all our staff succeeding with us, we would love to have you as part of our team.

Our Core Services

  • There are approximately 1.5 million learning disabled people in the UK.
  • Just 4.8% of learning disabled people are in paid employment (Base, Dec 2023)
  • In a survey by Sense, over half of disabled people reported feeling lonely, rising to over three quarters (77%) for those aged 18-34 (Sense 2017)
  • More than 1 in 100 have autism in the UK (National Autistic Society, Nov 2024)
  • Having an active social life can help people with a learning disability to feel happier, included and valued (Mason et al. 2013; Chadwick et al. 2014; Wilson et al., 2017).

Our Core Services

Pulp Friction strives to be the leading Alternative Day Service in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Guided by our members, we are aspirational, inclusive, and purposeful, creating meaningful opportunities for all.

Day Support Services

We are empowering Learning Disabled and Autistic adults to succeed through real-life work experience, in a comfortable and supportive environment.

Outside Catering & Events

Food is intertwined in all that we do – we run community meals, manage canteens, and offer a variety of external catering options.

 

Event Bikes

Our Members are pro-smoothie bike operators! We encourage Members to come along and help us at events, teaching the public how to blend their very own smoothies.
