We aim to build our Members’ self-confidence, work readiness and independence skills.
Located in the heart of Bestwood, Nottingham, and connected to Bestwood Park Church, our Community Skills and Training Hub offers our Members the time and support to develop valuable skills.
At our Community Hub, Members gain hands-on experience preparing and serving food and drinks to the community. They also contribute to making and delivering buffets for events and training venues.

Through our Grow and Learn programme, Members build skills behind the counter, participate in workshops, and engage in activities that enhance their independence, work readiness, and self-confidence. We follow the Let’s Get Cooking model, ensuring a structured approach to food skills and preparation.
Collaboration is at the heart of our hub.
Members work alongside staff and each other, progressing at their own pace in a safe and supportive environment, free from unnecessary pressure. As part of their experience, we also offer opportunities to obtain food hygiene and first aid qualifications – empowering members to take meaningful steps toward personal and professional growth.
“It is a friendly place,
you get to do a lot of different things”
The Pulp Friction Pathway
At the Hub, our Members are able to learn a variety of skills, designed to support their lives in lots of different ways.
The Pulp Friction Pathway sets out a series of modules for Members to work their way through during their time at Pulp Friction. This ranges from household skills like washing clothes and planting seeds, to work-readiness skills, like customer service and teamworking.
