The Pulp Friction CIC Case Study – Uni of Leeds

We are one of the University of Leeds’ 10 Place-based Food Initiatives Case Studies

Together with The Food Foundation and Consumer Data Research Centre, the University of Leeds completed a case study with Pulp Friction CIC and our Members.

The team at the University of Leeds are researching the impact of social eating and how food services are able to record and report on this. To support their work, they are visiting organisations across the UK to see how they’re using food within the community.

Gemma, from the University, came on-site to speak to staff and Members to gain an insight into all that we do at Pulp Friction, and evaluated the various impacts:

  • Food Security and Economy
  • Sustainability and Resilience
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Access and Demand for Healthy, Local Food

The piece concluded with the following takeaways:

The University also looked into 9 other food hubs, spread across the UK from Lansbury Park in Wales, to the Isle of Bute in Scotland.

We were honoured to be chosen to take part in their research, representing the East Midlands, and being in the good company of the 9 other brilliant organisations taking part.
